Eichler Inspiration
About 10,000 Eichler designed "modernist" homes exist in the Bay Area, and are considered unique and highly desirable. After purchasing their Eichler, these homeowners decided the house needed a facelift. It was very austere, with a grey and white exterior, surrounded by a large grey concrete driveway. Their first step was to add color and contrast, with new black shutters and a wrought iron fence. To create a family-friendly yard, we replaced some of the shrubs and concrete with a green lawn and planting beds. This softer landscaping included boulders for effect, lighting and a perennial planting scheme for year-round interest. A curving flagstone path now welcomes visitors up to the door. The result is an open, friendly approach to a once stark Eichler home.
