Classic Symmetry

This busy Southern California couple spends a lot of time working and entertaining, with little time left to garden. They wanted a new, more sophisticated scheme to hide the flat lines of their 50’s style rancher. It also had to be easy to maintain. The solution? We agreed upon a structured, symmetrical English theme, using a green and white palette. I started with Boxwood to create solid hedges on either side of the matching brick planters. Next, I combined masses of white Iceberg roses, which bloom from Summer to Fall. Other perennials in the scheme included French Lavender, and matching containers with variegated Privets, paired with colorful annuals near the door. Around the curving driveway, I recommended shrub roses, Daffodils for Spring color, and large European Birches for impact.
